Code of Conduct

Dutch JavaScript Conference (DJS Conf) is a community event dedicated to networking, collaboration, and learning. We value the participation of every member of the JavaScript community and want all attendees to have an enjoyable, fulfilling, and harassment-free experience.

To make clear what is expected, all delegates/attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organizers, and volunteers at any DJS Conf event are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event.

The Short Version

DJS Conf is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form.

  • Keep communication professional and appropriate.
  • No sexual language or imagery in any conference venue, including talks.
  • Be kind. Do not insult or demean other attendees.

Attendees violating these rules may be expelled from the conference—without a refund—at the sole discretion of the organizers.

The Longer Version

DJS Conf strives to be a respectful, kind, diverse, and inclusive environment. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments related to protected characteristics
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. All interactions—onsite or online—must follow this Code of Conduct.

No weapons are allowed at DJS Conf. Weapons include explosives, guns, large knives, or any item intended to cause harm.

Speakers

Speakers should avoid political content, excessive profanity, and any material that could create an exclusionary environment. Our goal is to foster learning, innovation, and collaboration for all.

Enforcement

If a participant engages in behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warnings, cancelling a talk, or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
